Michael Holly's 'The Parish' closed on Saturday 25th June with a talk in the gallery. The artist joined photographer Paul Carroll to discuss Michael's 3 year project with Clonakilty GAA - 'The Parish' as well as Paul's book 'Gaelic Fields' which was the product of a 7 year photography journey throughout Ireland, capturing the action of grassroots Gaelic club games in their unique surroundings.
The pair will also discussed the unique place that the GAA & LGFA hold in Irish society, and how the social nature of these organisations is an important aspect of communities, especially in rural areas. A small but appreciative crowd was in attendance and the artists held a q&a afterwards. Thanks to all who came along on the day!
