We are delighted that our 2022 Creative Ireland Project, Now & Then is featured as a hero project on the Creative Ireland Website
Now & Then was facilitated by arts practitioners Catherine McVicker & Mary Hickey who worked with groups from Gaelscoil Chluain Meala and Irishtown Day Care Centre for the elderly over 8 weeks in the Spring of 2022.
Through sharing stories, songs, games, audio clips and scrapbooks, both groups learned a lot about each other. By using the scrapbooks and audio clips, they communicated with each other in a time where COVID still meant that they could not physically share the same space. The children discovered what life was like years ago, with the elders sharing stories and wisdoms that they had learned in their lives, while the elders learned that children today are not that different than when they themselves were young.
STAC produced a short film documenting the project and both groups got to share and relive their experiences on Culture night when the film was screened at South Tipperary Arts Centre.
